Allan Snyder, Cofounder
Allan Snyder FRS, Cofounder Allan also received the 1997 International Australia Prize, the 1996 Massey Prize and medal of the British Institute of Physics, the Thomas Rankin Lyle medal of the Australian Academy of Sciences (its highest award in physics and mathematics), the Sutherland Memorial medal of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences, the CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement, the Edgeworth David medal of the Royal Society of New South Wales, and the Silver Jubilee medal of the Royal Society of Victoria. Allan is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences, and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America. He has a DSc degree from the University of London, a PhD from University College London, a MS degree from Harvard University, and an SM degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also the Foundation Head of the Optical Sciences Centre and Foundation Director of the Centre for the Mind. He holds the chair of Visual Sciences and the chair of Optical Physics. And in honor of his practical achievements, he was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. He has been awarded various fellowships, including the Simon Guggenheim fellowship at Yale University and the Royal Society of London Guest Research Fellowship at Cambridge University. He served on the 1977 Marconi International award committee, evaluating outstanding scientific achievement. And he is a former associate editor of the Optical Sciences of America. Allan has published 260 papers in various refereed international journals, as well as a number of books. His book Photoreceptor Optics, written with R. Menzel, defined a new area of the visual sciences, and the comprehensive Optical Waveguide Theory, which he wrote with J.D.Love, is now available in both Chinese and Russian. Tan Le, Cofounder and President In 1998, Tan was named Young Australian of the Year (the most prestigious prize for an Australian) and voted one of Australia's 30 Most Successful Women Under 30. At the age of twenty-one, Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (with Honors) from Monash University. Tan was a Special Visitor to the United Kingdom as a guest of the British High Commission and Foreign Commonwealth Office, a Goodwill Ambassador for Australia in Asia, and a Patron of the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development Program. Tan has been an Ambassador for the Status of Women since 2001, and she's also been appointed to a number of prominent Boards, including Plan International Australia, Australian Citizenship Council, National Committee for Human Rights Education in Australia, and RMIT Business in Entrepreneurship. Nam Do, Cofounder and CEO Nam's background is in Strategic Planning and Management, and he is also an expert in Information Technology and Multimedia. At the age of nine, Nam was selected to join a special program in Mathematics and Physics at the National School for Gifted Students in Vietnam. In 1995, Nam won one of Vietnam's most prestigious scholarships for study abroad. In 1996, Nam came to Australia's RMIT University under a scholarship program for students with exceptional academic ability and leadership potential. Nam was featured in SmartCompany’s list of Australia’s Top 10 digital entrepreneurs in 2007. Neil Weste, Cofounder Neil is a pioneer in chip design. His book, The Principle of CMOS and VLSI Design, was the first book on CMOS design and is now considered the bible for all chip designers around the world. In 1995, after a successful career in the US, he returned to Australia to join Macquarie University as Professor of Microelectronics. In 1997, Neil cofounded Radiata Communications, which pioneered CMOS chip sets (RF/Analog/Digital) for the IEEE 802.11a WLAN standard. Radiata was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2001 for approximately A$500 million. Neil has a BSc, a BE(Elec), and a PhD from the University of Adelaide. Randy Breen, Chief Product Officer In 1986, Randy began working at Electronic Arts, where he was responsible for the creation and production of the Road Rash™ game franchise, which sold over four million units and played an important role in the success of EA. Over the span of his career, Randy has produced and managed over fifty titles. As Emotiv's Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Randy's intimate knowledge of game development helps him guide the direction of research and ensure the product reaches its market potential. His industry contacts and knowledge of the publishing business also play a vital role in establishing partnerships within the game industry. Steve Sapiro, Vice President of Engineering At Intel Corporation, he was a Manager in the Design Technology Department, where he oversaw 17 engineers as part of a successful multi-year, 1000+ person microprocessor development effort. This was the first time that a major microprocessor product worked to spec the first time. As a Chief Scientist at Tektronix Inc. Steve had strategic & tactical responsibility for the entire CAE product family on multiple computing platforms and at multiple development sites. As a Founder and Chief Scientist at CAE Systems Inc. Steve architected a family of Computer Aided Engineering software products that covered the entire electronic design spectrum. In addition to that, he managed a development team that produced over one million lines of working C code. CAE Systems Inc. was eventually purchased by Tektronix Corporation for $75M. David Thomson, CFA, Director of Finance David has a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Information Systems and MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. He also holds the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
