List of acceptable saline solutions brands?
Is there a list of acceptable saline solution brands? Does it have to be Renu by Bausch & Lomb or are there other brands?

Thanks,
Robert
Other brands work fine. We specifically avoid recommending particular brands (let them pay for their own advertising). The key requirements are:
saline content between 0.5% and 4%, preferably at the lower end to reduce salt build-up, non-allergenic, fitted with anti-microbials (or add your own, say up to 4% isopropyl alcohol). Multi-purpose contact lens solution fits the bill very well - any brand which you use to rinse and store soft lenses for extended periods is fine - but not the highly active protein removal solutions (not tested but possibly harsh on your skin)

I went to Target and all the ReNu bottles something to the effect of "removes protein daily". Are those considered "highly active"?

Thanks,
Robert
No, you only need to avoid the full-strength cleaning solutions (once a month) where you deeply cleanse the lenses over a few hours, then spend the next hour or two rinsing the cleanser out of the lenses. These guys have some heavy enzymes and detergents in them. They will still work fine, but they may irritate your skin.

The solutions which are recommended for EPOC are the daily use (Multi Purpose) and long-term storage solutions - the stuff you can apply directly to your eyes.
